A portrait of the artist Petr Válek that highlights the beauty of noise through his electrified constructions as well as everyday objects. The amplified sensitivity to various sounds inevitably leads to an intense experience of silence, of which noise is an integral part.
This collection is a compilation of underground/independently-released cassette tapes from the days when the audio cassette was the standard method of music sharing... generally the mid-eighties through early-nineties. The material represented includes tape experimentation, industrial, avant-garde, indy, rock, diy, subvertainment and auto-hypnotic materials. Much of this material defies category, and has therefore not been given one.
This site is the online presence of the project ( nula.cc ), which consists of a series of filecasts, each an assemblage of sounds, images, and words, and made available for download, sharing, commentary, and further manipulation.
Over the years, and thanks to a broad community of artists, phonographers and individuals working with sound and field recording, radio aporee has collected a comprehensive corpus of sounds from all around the world, and has provided many collaborative tools for artistic practices and research in the field.
